This course offers a training course on modern methods for evaluating oil projects and decision-making. Oil, often referred to as black gold, is a flammable liquid that is dark in color with a greenish tint. It is found in the upper layer of the Earth's crust and is composed of a complex mixture of hydrocarbons, particularly valuable alkanes. Its appearance, composition, and purity vary significantly depending on the extraction location. Oil is an essential primary energy source, according to global energy statistics. It is burned and used to generate electricity, run factories, and power transportation and engines. The largest consumer of oil is the United States, which consumes about a quarter of the estimated global production of around 80 million barrels daily. While oil plays a crucial role in many aspects of life, errors in extraction can lead to noticeable environmental and social pollution due to accidents and routine activities associated with its production and operation. Therefore, there is a need for tools to evaluate the performance of oil projects.
